What Does HSK 2 Vocabulary Cover?

HSK 2 extends the beginner foundation to a cumulative target of 500 words in the revised HSK 3.0 syllabus. Its vocabulary supports routine conversations, simple descriptions, directions, comparisons, common activities, and familiar situations at home, school, work, shops, and public places.

The HSK 2 game selects correct answers from entries introduced at Level 2. Practice HSK 1 separately when you also want to refresh the earlier foundation. View the official HSK syllabus.

How to Study HSK 2 with the Game

Use short Standard-mode sessions to build accuracy first. When Level 2 words feel immediate, Rampage adds more distractors and makes visual recognition more demanding. Return to the review after every session and collect words that were slow even when your final answer was correct.

Vocabulary recognition is only one part of HSK preparation. Combine it with listening, pronunciation, grammar, sentence building, reading, character writing, and practice using the examination format offered by your test center.

HSK 2 Vocabulary Practice FAQ

HSK 2 is an elementary or beginner level. The official description of the older HSK 2.0 exam compares it with CEFR A2 because it covers simple, routine exchanges about familiar matters. Treat that as a broad reference rather than an exact conversion: HSK and CEFR assess different skill profiles, and the revised HSK 3.0 level should not automatically be assigned the same equivalence.

Yes. HSK 2 assumes the HSK 1 foundation is already comfortable, then adds 200 numbered vocabulary entries in the revised syllabus along with wider grammar and more detailed everyday situations. It is a clear step up from HSK 1, but it remains an elementary level rather than an intermediate one.

HSK 2 vocabulary supports short, predictable exchanges about familiar topics such as family, shopping, directions, schedules, and daily activities. That can help with basic conversation, but it is not enough for broad or spontaneous fluency. The HSK 2 written exam emphasizes listening and reading, so passing it does not by itself demonstrate speaking ability.

You are approaching HSK 2 readiness when HSK 1 vocabulary feels automatic, you can recognize most Level 2 words without guessing, and you can follow short recordings and simple written sentences about familiar situations. Use a timed official sample paper as the final check: one lucky passing result is less reliable than scoring comfortably above the pass mark on several attempts.

There is no dependable number of weeks for every learner. The older official HSK 2 profile described roughly two semesters of study at two to three class hours per week, but prior knowledge, self-study time, listening exposure, and retention matter more than the calendar. Take a sample paper first, then estimate from the vocabulary and skills you still need to strengthen.

Learn the vocabulary and grammar for the syllabus used by your test date, then practice both listening and reading under time pressure. Use official sample questions to learn the task formats, review every mistake, and repeat weak words in complete sentences instead of memorizing isolated translations. Vocabulary games help recognition, but they should support—not replace—listening and full-paper practice.

Yes. The revised HSK 3.0 syllabus gives HSK 2 a cumulative target of 500 numbered vocabulary entries: the 300-entry HSK 1 foundation plus 200 entries introduced at Level 2. RadicalRampage keeps the practice presets separate, so this page focuses on the new Level 2 entries and their additional syllabus senses rather than repeating the HSK 1 prompts.
